Positive dermatomyositis nxp2 antibodies may indicate the possibility of malignancy.
The nxp2 antibody is a type of autoantibody specific to dermatomyositis. Patients with dermatomyositis who are positive for this antibody usually have mild cutaneous symptoms, but usually have severe systemic manifestations, which may be characterized by severe and frequent myalgia, peripheral edema, severe dysphagia, and muscle weakness mainly in the neck and distal limbs.
A positive test for nxp2 antibodies in a patient with dermatomyositis suggests a possible association with the presence of a malignant tumor, and most of these patients have a poor prognosis.
If patients with dermatomyositis are found to have positive nxp2 antibody, it is recommended that they go to the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology of regular hospitals as soon as possible to complete multi-system examinations, including urinary, respiratory, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, thyroid, breast and so on, and if necessary, further improve the PET-CT examination, so as to exclude the possibility of malignant tumors.
