Talk about single-port laparoscopic technique

Laparoscopic technology has been developed in the field of gynecology in China for 30 years, and has gradually gained the recognition of doctors and patients, with many doctors questioning the merits of laparoscopy less and less at the beginning. It is inevitable that laparoscopic surgery is less traumatic than traditional open surgery, faster recovery, and aesthetically pleasing. Nowadays, the vast majority of benign gynecological diseases can be treated by laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, and cathodic surgery, and no longer require as much trauma as open surgery. Today we will talk about the single-port laparoscopy that has been developed in the past two years based on the traditional laparoscopy. Traditional laparoscopy usually requires three to four 0.5 to 1.5 cm puncture holes in the abdominal wall for surgical operation, the so-called single-port laparoscopy does not require so many puncture holes, single-port laparoscopy only requires an incision at the navel, after the surgery, the scar is hidden in the navel, so that the abdominal wall will not leave a surgical scar, aesthetics is the biggest advantage of such surgery over traditional laparoscopy. After the surgery, you can still wear a bikini and go to the beach to show off your tummy. Single-port laparoscopic surgery is more difficult for the surgeon, as the operation is performed in a single operating hole, so it is difficult to operate and requires some training and adaptation, and the operation takes longer than traditional laparoscopic surgery. There are also special requirements for the surgical instruments and the need for turnable mirrors and operating equipment. Due to the increased difficulty of the procedure, single-port laparoscopy is appropriate for some diseases, while some slightly more complex diseases may not be amenable to the single-port approach, and some patients may require conversion to conventional laparoscopy during the procedure. Gynecologic procedures currently suitable for single-port laparoscopy include: ovarian tumor surgery, tubal surgery, uterine fibroid surgery, hysterectomy, and simple tumor surgery. At present, single-port laparoscopy has been recognized and practiced by some doctors in the field of gynecology as well as surgery, and because the technical difficulty of single-port laparoscopy is much higher than that of traditional laparoscopy, doctors often do not like it and resist it at first. This is the same as the development of laparoscopic technology in the past 30 years, which is now popular because it is more difficult for the surgeon to perform compared to traditional surgery, but benefits the patient. A procedure that can benefit the patient and make it difficult for the surgeon will be gradually spread through training to overcome the difficulties.
