Common Acupuncture Points for Moxibustion

There are many acupuncture points commonly used in moxibustion, such as the mid-epigastric point, the Sanyinjiao point, the foot Sanli point, and the Guanyuan point. 1. Middle Epigastric Point: Located in the upper abdomen, 4 inches above the umbilicus, on the anterior midline. It can be used to treat stomach pain, diarrhea and other spleen and stomach disorders, as well as jaundice. 2. Sanyinjiao Point: 3 inches above the inner ankle, in the center of the medial side of the tibia, can be used to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as diarrhea, gynecological and obstetrical disorders such as dysmenorrhea, psychosomatic disorders such as palpitations, urinary disorders such as dysuria, lower limb impotence (lower limb weakness, numbness, and pain), eczema, and other skin disorders, and yin deficiency disorders. 3. Foot Sanli Point: Located on the lateral side of the lower leg, 3 inches below the calf’s nose, one transverse finger outside the tibia. It can treat gastrointestinal diseases such as stomachache, localized diseases such as lower limb impotence, epilepsy and mental diseases such as asthma, phlegm, and carbuncle (red, swollen and painful breasts, with poor milk discharge, and ultimately a purulent disease). 4. Guanyuan Point: Located in the lower abdomen, 3 inches below the umbilicus, on the anterior midline. It can be used to treat deficiency of vital energy, spermatorrhea, impotence and other male disorders, gynecological disorders such as metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), irregular menstruation, urological disorders such as enuresis, and intestinal disorders such as abdominal pain.
