How to Relieve Wrist Pain

Wrist pain may be caused by physiological factors such as over-exercise and exposure to cold, or it may be due to pathologic factors such as trauma and tendon sheath cysts. Relief modalities include physical therapy, medication and surgery.
1. Physiological factors: excessive exercise may lead to soft tissue fatigue and cause pain, patients need to reduce wrist activities and take more rest; they can also undergo physical therapy; they can also take oral ibuprofen, indomethacin and other medications to relieve the symptoms; prolonged exposure to cold in the wrist area may also lead to the symptoms mentioned above, and patients need to get out of cold and damp environments, and then they can wear wrist guards to keep warm.
2. Pathological factors: Trauma may lead to wrist fracture causing wrist pain. If the alignment of the fracture line is good, you can choose manipulation, plaster or support fixation treatment; if the damage is more serious, it is recommended to carry out surgical incision and internal fixation treatment.
Tendon sheath cysts can also be treated with physical or medication when they are small and asymptomatic; when they are large and have symptoms of compression, surgical removal is required.
If the symptoms of wrist pain are severe, or if the symptoms do not improve, the patient should go to the hospital for treatment. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication.
