Sudden vertigo, nausea and vomiting in the middle of the night

The common causes of sudden vertigo, nausea and vomiting in the middle of the night are otoliths, Meniere’s disease, vestibular peripheral vertigo, brainstem or cerebellar infarction, etc. The treatment methods are different for different causes. Otoliths need to be repositioned by manipulation to promote the recovery of the dislodged otoliths; Meniere’s disease needs to be treated with hormones to reduce the edema of endolymph; and brainstem or cerebellar infarction needs to be treated with antiplatelet aggregation, cerebral protection and circulation improvement drugs. If dizziness, nausea and vomiting are suddenly found at night, it is necessary to rest in bed, keep emotionally stable and avoid impatience. If the symptoms of vertigo still cannot be relieved after rest or are progressively aggravated, it is recommended to go to the hospital for emergency medical treatment to clarify which cause of vertigo is responsible and to carry out fundamental treatment.
