Plague is caused by rodents such as rats and other rodents spreading Yersinia pestis, and the main ways of transmission include rat flea bites, transmission through skin contact, respiratory droplet transmission.
1. Rat flea bites: the most important way of transmission of plague between animals and people. Rodent flea bites of rodents carrying Yersinia pestis can constitute a rodent-flea-human transmission with the rodent flea as the medium.
2. Transmission through skin contact: a few direct contact with patient sputum, pus can lead to human-to-human transmission of plague, while the skin, flesh and blood of diseased animals can also be transmitted through the contact with the broken skin and mucous membranes.
3. Respiratory droplet transmission: pulmonary plague patients can be transmitted through sputum, droplets, etc., which can cause human-to-human transmission, resulting in pandemics.
Plague is a virulent infectious disease, highly contagious, high mortality rate, is China’s Class A infectious diseases, once found should be promptly reported and actively treated.
