The duration of surgery for intradural tumors of the spine is related to the location, site, and nature of the lesion. For simple surgeries, such as extramedullary intradural spinal meningiomas and nerve sheath tumors, the surgery time can be 1-2 hours. However, for complex and difficult surgeries, the time is longer, and sometimes the surgery can take up to 7-8 hours. If the tumor is located inside the spinal cord and the segments are very long, many segments have to be opened and the time to remove the tumor during the operation will be longer. In some cases, the destruction around the tumor is so severe that the surgeon has to spend time rebuilding the stability of the spine after removing the tumor. If the tumor is not well defined from the surrounding area, the surgery will take longer for this part of the tumor.
