CA19-9 is a glycolipid tumor marker, mainly seen in pancreatic cancer and malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, CA19-9 can also be elevated in gallbladder cancer, bile duct cancer and colorectal cancer. However, the sensitivity of CA19-9 in early malignant tumors is not very high, about 30%. Some people are more nervous when they find elevated CA19-9 during routine examination, so they do further examination. In fact, CA19-9 can be mildly elevated in some benign diseases, such as acute pancreatitis, cholestatic cholangitis, cholelithiasis, hepatitis, and cirrhosis. Therefore, if mild elevation of CA19-9 is found, it is generally not necessary to be too nervous, and liver or gastrointestinal examination should be done. If there is no specific finding, regular review, 1-2 months review of CA19-9 is sufficient.
