Premature weight bearing of femoral neck fracture will lead to slower healing of the fracture and cause necrosis of the femoral head.
1. Slower healing of fracture: Early weight bearing will lead to displacement of the femoral neck or loosening of the screws due to insufficient support strength, then the fracture healing will be delayed, or even non-healing, resulting in pain and other symptoms.
2. Necrosis of the femoral head: premature weight bearing will also damage the medial femoral artery, resulting in impaired blood supply to the femoral head or even no blood supply, then the pressure on the hip joint will increase, and finally lead to ischemic necrosis of the femoral head leading to disability.
Therefore, it is recommended that patients should not bear weight too soon after the fracture of femoral neck, otherwise it will aggravate the condition on the basis of the original, and may cause disability in serious cases. It is recommended that patients follow the doctor’s instructions to gradually move.
