Ureteral stenosis stents are hollow stent tubes that support the lumen of the ureter, and their main purpose is to dilate the ureter.
Ureteral stents are generally used after ureteral stone or ureteral surgery, but they are usually placed in the body for a minimum of two years, or at least for about 10-15 days, especially after ureteral stone surgery, when the debris from the stone is still not completely expelled from the body, and placement of a ureteral stent is able to dilate the ureter and encourage the stone to be expelled.
In a few cases, ureteral stents are placed after ureterotomy or ureteroplasty to prevent ureteral stenosis.
The timing of ureteral stent placement is subject to the advice of a medical professional.
