What is the difference between Codonopsis pilosula and American ginseng?

Codonopsis and American ginseng are different in source, flavor and attribution, efficacy and main treatment, etc., and need to be taken under the guidance of a physician.
1. Source: Codonopsis pilosula is the root of Codonopsis pilosula, Codonopsis pilosula, Codonopsis pilosula, Codonopsis pilosula or Codonopsis pilosula. Radix Panax Ginseng is the root of Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng, family Ginseng.
2. Flavor and Meridian: Codonopsis pilosula is sweet in taste and flat in nature; it belongs to the spleen and lung meridian. Radix Panax Ginseng is sweet in flavor, slightly bitter and cool in nature; it belongs to the Lung, Heart, Kidney and Spleen meridians.
3. Efficacy and Indications: Radix Panax Ginseng has the functions of tonifying the spleen and lung, generating body fluid and nourishing blood, and is mainly used for treating weakness of the spleen and stomach, asthma and cough of the lung, thirst due to injury of body fluid, and weakness of the blood. Radix Panax Ginseng has the effect of tonifying Qi and nourishing Yin, clearing heat and generating body fluid, treating deficiency heat and fatigue, coughing, phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied with symptoms such as eating, drinking and urinating), and dryness of mouth and pharynx.
It should be noted that Codonopsis pilosula should not be used for those who have solid or hot symptoms but are not deficient in positive qi. Western ginseng should not be used in cases of deficiency of central yang, cold-dampness obstruction (cold and dampness blocking the spleen and stomach in the central part of the body), and qi depression and fire, and all other solid and fire-depressing cases. Codonopsis pilosula and Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng should not be used in conjunction with Veratrum.
