Pain between the hip and the lower back is commonly caused by the following: 1. Lumbar disc herniation: It can irritate the nerve root on one side or bilateral nerve roots, thus causing symptoms of radiating pain in the lumbosacral region. The patient will have severe limitation of lumbar spine movement and the muscle strength of the lower limbs may be reduced. CT scan examination or MRI is usually used to find out the location and extent of the lesion.2. Epiglottic neuritis: it will also manifest as painful symptoms between the lumbar and hip areas, but it is usually unilateral. The pain is more intense and can even affect the lumbar spine activities. Pressing along the walking part of the gluteal epicutaneous nerve can induce an aggravation of the pain symptoms, while the closure treatment will lead to a rapid relief of the clinical symptoms. Therefore, if this symptom is produced, early diagnosis and early treatment should be made to quickly bring about satisfactory relief of clinical symptoms.
