There are many possible causes of neck pain, not necessarily four diseases, such as acute injury, chronic strain, cervical spondylosis, subacute thyroiditis, cervical lymphadenitis and so on.
1. Acute injury: Violent blows to the neck or sudden and violent turning of the neck can cause soft tissue injury or even tearing of the neck and cause neck pain.
2. Chronic strain injury: chronic strain injury of the neck is mostly seen in people who need to work for a long time, such as programmers, window staff, etc. The patient’s neck is in a position for a long time, which results in chronic strain injury caused by continuous tension of certain muscles in the neck and shoulder.
3. Subacute thyroiditis: Subacute thyroiditis is a type of thyroiditis associated with viral infections. It is mostly secondary to upper respiratory tract viral infections, and patients mainly show pain, swelling, and difficulty in swallowing in the thyroid region of the neck, accompanied by general discomfort, muscle pain, fever and sweating.
4. Cervical spondylosis: Neurogenic cervical spondylosis is mainly manifested as radiating pain in the neck, shoulder and upper limb nerves, which is the result of compression of the cervical nerve roots, accompanied by upper limb numbness, sensory abnormalities, unfavorable movement and other manifestations.
5. Cervical lymphadenitis: cervical lymphadenitis is mostly caused by the spread of infection foci in the neighboring areas, such as tonsillitis, gingivitis, etc. Patients will have swollen lymph nodes in the neck, pain and pressure. After the primary infection is controlled, the enlarged lymph nodes may subside on their own.
When persistent neck pain occurs, it is recommended that patients go to the hospital as soon as possible to find out the cause of the disease and consult a professional doctor for appropriate treatment.
