Do you have to do traction on a broken bone?

Traction is not mandatory for fracture patients. Whether or not to do traction treatment should be based on the type of fracture as well as the injury condition of the patient, and standardized treatment should be carried out under the guidance of the doctor.
Common fracture traction includes skin traction and bone traction, which can reset the fracture and dislocation, stabilize the fracture end, prevent displacement damage to blood vessels and nerves, reduce local swelling, and provide conditions for further surgery.
If it is a simple minor fracture, the fracture end is stabilized without obvious dislocation, it can be treated with cast external fixation, and generally do not need to do traction treatment.
If it is a closed femur fracture, skin traction can be chosen. If it is an open fracture, unstable fracture or obviously displaced fracture, etc., bone traction treatment can be performed first, and then surgery can be performed at a later date after the risk of infection and risk factors have decreased and the displacement of the fracture has been corrected.
Whether or not traction treatment is carried out for fracture patients should be determined according to the specific condition, and it is recommended that patients actively cooperate with the doctor and choose the appropriate treatment method under the doctor’s guidance.
