In recent years, the research on the treatment of tumors by Chinese medicine has become more and more in-depth and its application has become more and more extensive. Some statistics show that more than 2/3 of the patients are treated with TCM while receiving modern treatment. The application of TCM has been increasingly emphasized by both doctors and patients, but where is the entry point of TCM treatment and what kind of role will it play? The role played by Chinese medicine Firstly, with the cooperation of surgery, preoperative Chinese medicine to give patients active treatment to support the positive and anti-evil, can improve the body’s condition, is conducive to the smooth progress of the operation, and at the same time can play a role in the anti-tumor; postoperative Chinese medicine to support the positive and replenish the deficiency, can improve the patient’s positive vitality, enhance the immunity, so that the patient to recover as soon as possible, and to reduce the recurrence and metastasis. Secondly, the cooperation with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, radiotherapy is longer than the surgical treatment cycle, while killing the tumor cells, they inevitably cause different degrees of damage to normal tissue cells and certain side effects, and the treatment of some frail patients is even forced to interrupt. Chinese medicine can stimulate patients’ function in advance before the beginning of anti-chemotherapy, so as to prepare for the drastic change of the internal environment caused by the treatment; synchronous Chinese medicine treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy can maintain patients’ own anti-cancer ability and the stability of the internal environment, give full play to the anticancer ability of chemotherapeutic drugs, alleviate the side damages brought by chemotherapy, and effectively alleviate and improve the side effects; and the reasonable application of Chinese medicine after chemotherapy can promote the recovery of positive qi as soon as possible. After chemotherapy, reasonable application of Chinese medicine can promote the recovery of positive energy as soon as possible. In addition, for patients in middle and late stages, they may have lost the opportunity of surgery or other treatments, and the patients are mainly suffering from deficiency of positive qi. During this period, traditional Chinese medicine can be used to support the positive qi, improve the patient’s immunity, and cooperate with other Chinese medicine treatment techniques to improve the patient’s quality of life and prolong the survival period as much as possible. Principles of TCM treatment In summary, in the process of tumor treatment, TCM techniques can benefit patients and may even be the best or final treatment means at certain stages, but when and how to apply them are more reasonable, my personal opinion is as follows: First, the use of TCM techniques must be guided by the basic theories of Chinese medicine, and through the four diagnostic methods of observation, smelling, questioning, and cutting, comprehensively and accurately make a diagnosis of the disease, according to the different stages of its development and manifestations, and then make a diagnosis. According to the different periods of its development and the different symptoms manifested, the prescription and medication should be rationally organized in order to achieve precise curative effects. Secondly, the therapeutic effect of simple TCM treatment on most tumors is not as good as that of modern treatment methods, but the intervention of TCM on the timing of tumor treatment is quite flexible: either early stage focuses on anti-evil, middle stage focuses on supporting the right and fighting against the evil, or late stage focuses on supporting the right to improve the quality of patient’s life and prolonging the period of survival. And there is a large amount of medical evidence showing that the effect of combined Chinese and Western medicine treatment is better than that of using Chinese medicine or Western medical technology alone. Again, Chinese medicine treatment should not be carried out blindly. Although Chinese medicine can be used to treat all kinds of tumors, its purpose must be clear in clinical application. According to the different periods of tumor development, in the process of joint application with various therapeutic means, it should be carried out reasonably and in appropriate amount according to the guidance of professional physicians. In conclusion, the positioning of Chinese medicine in the treatment of malignant tumors can no longer be regarded as a dispensable means, but has risen to be an effective and necessary means in the process of healing. At present, most scholars believe that it is as important as various treatment methods of modern medicine. Moreover, in the environment where comprehensive treatment of tumor has become a major trend, as such a flexible, targeted treatment of traditional medicine, its role is not only at the level of purely auxiliary level, but also can play a major role in certain necessary moments.
