Considerations for post-circumcision care

Post-circumcision care requires attention to matters related to the wound, urination, pain, diet and discharge instructions.
1. Wound:
①The wound is bandaged with pressure for 2 days after the operation, and attention should be paid to observe the wound site for blood seepage and hematoma, and pay attention to the blood supply to the penis.
② rest, avoid strenuous activities, can wear loose underwear panties, avoid wound friction.
③Strictly prevent incision infection: observe the wound dressing closely, find the dressing is contaminated should be changed in time, wash with 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution 2~3 times a day after the dressing is removed, use antibiotics when there is clear infection.
2. Urination: kneeling or using plastic bottles to assist urination, to avoid urine soaked auxiliary materials, contamination of the wound, but also soothe the emotions avoid holding urine, so as not to cause penile congestion and erection affecting wound healing or even lead to impaired renal function, such as urinary retention can be hot compresses or catheterization to the hospital.
3. Pain: distraction to divert the patient’s attention, improve the general pain tolerance, if necessary, oral pain medication as needed, such as ibuprofen.
4. Diet: patients should be given light, nutritious food, avoid spicy and stimulating food.
5. Discharge hou can use potassium permanganate solution (1:5000) to wash the wound twice a day, avoid strenuous activities within 2 weeks, to be non-absorbable sutures fall off.
After circumcision medication should be under the guidance of the doctor, if there is any abnormality, come to the hospital in time to deal with it, and go to the hospital for rechecking regularly.
