The dangers of high troponin

Troponin is a marker of myocardial injury and necrosis and is clinically important for the diagnosis and risk stratification of acute myocardial infarction. An elevated value indicates myocardial injury and is most often seen in acute myocardial infarction, unstable angina, pulmonary infarction, heart failure, and other diseases that cause myocardial injury such as pancreatitis and connective tissue disease. Troponin measurement is mainly used for laboratory diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction and prognosis of unstable angina, and for monitoring the treatment of thrombolytic drugs after acute myocardial infarction, as well as for other diseases with myocardial cell damage, which have some diagnostic value.
