Diarrhea after taking Gou Ling Ji may be due to eating cold and irritating food during the medication or the patient’s intolerance to some of the medications. Kuan Ling Ji is composed of red ginseng, deer antler, seahorse, wolfberry, clove, andrographis paniculata, bird’s brain, cow’s knee, lock yang, ripened dihuang, tonic bone resin, dodder seed, eucommia, Shi Yan, Cistanches, licorice, tian dong, horny goat weed, big green salt, and sand kernel, which is good for strengthening the body and replenishing the brain, strengthening the kidney and tonifying the qi, and improving appetite. Gou Ling Ji is used for kidney deficiency and yang weakness, memory loss, night dream with sperm overflow, lumbago and leg weakness, qi deficiency and coughing, loose diarrhea in the fifth day of the week, and loss of appetite. The adverse reactions and contraindications of the drug are not clear. Pregnant women are prohibited, stop taking it when having a cold or flu. Avoid cold and irritating food during the period of taking the medicine. Because of the presence of a variety of drugs to tonify the kidneys and promote Yang, it does not usually cause diarrhea. If eating cold, spicy and stimulating food or intolerance to some drugs during the period of taking the medicine, it may also cause diarrhea.
