Fecal incontinence should be treated accordingly depending on the cause. Common causes include trauma, neurological disorders, rectal prolapse and so on. Commonly used treatments include general treatment, medication such as edaravone and human urokinase, and surgical treatment.
1. Trauma: due to trauma damage to the anorectal ring, the sphincter loses its function and causes fecal incontinence. The main treatment is surgery to repair the anal sphincter.
2. Neurological diseases: such as cerebral infarction, etc., should actively treat the primary disease, keep the respiratory tract open and oxygen, control blood, blood sugar. Commonly used drugs are neuroprotective drugs such as edaravone, etc.; improve cerebrovascular circulation drugs such as human urokinase. For large cerebral infarction, if there is no contraindication, surgery can be performed.
3. Rectal prolapse: it can cause anal relaxation and fecal incontinence. It can be reset by manipulation first, if prolapse is repeated, it should be treated by surgery in time, such as rectal suspension and fixation.
Fecal incontinence may also be caused by other reasons such as spina bifida, anorectal malformation. If fecal incontinence occurs more frequently or the symptoms are serious, affecting the patient’s quality of life and social activities, it is necessary to consult a doctor in time.
