Rhubarb and Radix et Rhizoma Cyperi Tang is composed of rhubarb, Radix et Rhizoma Cyperi, and Sinica, which have the effects of warming the interior, dispersing cold, and relieving pain through passing stools. It is clinically used to treat symptoms of cold accumulation in the interior, such as abdominal pain, constipation, fever, cold hands and feet. The dosage of rhubarb is generally no more than that of epiphyllum. The symptoms of Yang depression and syncope include lack of warmth in the hands and feet, abdominal pain and diarrhea, and heaviness in the lower body. Liver and spleen disharmony syndrome is characterized by distension and pain in the hypochondrium and ribs, and pain in the epigastrium (abdomen). The adverse effects and contraindications of Si Reverse San are not clear. When rhubarb and epiphyllum soup combined with Si Reverse San is used, it should be administered under the diagnosis of a professional Chinese medicine practitioner.
