After surgery for varicocele on the left side, it usually does not affect the right side. The blood flow routes in the left and right spermatic veins are not the same. Venous blood from the left testis and epididymis usually enters the ipsilateral inguinal canal via the left spermatic vein and then flows into the left renal vein. Venous blood from the right testis and epididymis, on the other hand, enters the right inguinal canal via the right spermatic vein and then flows into the inferior vena cava. Therefore, after varicocele surgery on the left side, the right side is usually not affected. After left-sided varicocele surgery, it is important to take good post-operative care as prescribed, such as holding the scrotum up with a scrotal support. During the postoperative recovery period, you should reduce the amount of activity appropriately, stand less and sit less, and avoid intercourse so as not to affect the recovery. If the right side of the spermatic vein is abnormal, it does not mean that it is caused by the left side of the varicocele surgery, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital as soon as possible for consultation and examination to make a clear diagnosis.
