The first principle of newborn feeding is to feed on demand, and on this basis, gradually transition to regular feeding.
1. On-demand feeding: This refers to the ability to truly recognize the child’s feeding needs, and neither special control of the amount of milk nor overfeeding.
2. Timed and quantitative feeding: for newborns, the amount of milk is usually around 15-30ml/times; around 1 week after birth, the amount of milk for newborns is around 50-60ml/times, around 2 weeks for newborns, the amount of milk for newborns is around 60-90ml/times, and around 4 weeks for newborns, the amount of milk for newborns is around 90-120ml/times.
Generally, the baby is fed once every 2-3 hours during the day and once every 3-4 hours at night. In principle, the longest interval between feedings is about 5 hours, and the baby is fed 7-8 times throughout the day.
