In the clinic, there is no such thing as a diagnosis of childhood neurologic strabismus, and there is no such thing as a treatment. Strabismus in children is often caused by congenital neuromuscular dysplasia, or due to heredity or refractive abnormality, etc. Treatment includes: medication, eyeglasses, and surgery. Topical eye drops of ciliary muscle paralyzing agents such as atropine eye drops can correct some of the internal strabismus caused by refractive abnormalities. If a child with strabismus, especially internal strabismus, also has a refractive abnormality, he or she often needs to be corrected with glasses of the appropriate prescription. Strabismus can be corrected by surgically adjusting the extraocular muscles through muscle weakening, or strengthening, or shifting. Strabismus in children needs to be diagnosed as early as possible, and specific treatments need to be examined in the hospital in time and in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
