What is the PIVKA-II indicator

PIVKA-II is abnormal prothrombinogen, which is an important indicator for liver cancer detection. Hepatocellular carcinoma is a kind of higher incidence tumor, which seriously threatens people’s health and life safety. One of the reasons for its high mortality rate is its low diagnosis rate. Vitamin K produces plasminogen in normal liver cells but produces abnormal plasminogen, PIVKA-II, in cancerous livers, which can be used to screen people at high risk of liver cancer or to assist in the diagnosis of primary liver cancer. In addition, the serum half-life of PIVKA-II is about 40~72 hours, which can respond to the efficacy of hepatocellular carcinoma in a more timely manner, and therefore can also assist in evaluating the efficacy of hepatocellular carcinoma treatment. It should be noted that PIVKA-II is also mildly elevated in the serum of patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis, etc. PIVKA-II only has an auxiliary diagnostic value and cannot confirm the diagnosis of the disease. If PIVKA-II is found to be abnormal, attention should be paid to it, timely consultation should be made, and further examination should be carried out under the guidance of the doctor, so as to clarify the diagnosis and actively treat the disease.
