Yanglingquan is an acupoint on the foot Shaoyang gallbladder meridian. It is located on the outer side of the calf, in the depression below the front of the head of the fibula. Its function is to relieve the liver and gallbladder, clear heat and dampness, and relax tendons and activate collaterals.
Yanglingquan is often used in the treatment of jaundice, dystocia (pain in the area of coeruleus and ribs), bitter taste in the mouth, vomiting, acid swallowing (swallowing the acid in the stomach that rushes up to the oropharynx), swollen and painful knees, impotence, weakness, or numbness, and pediatric convulsions (a pediatric disease that is characterized by dizziness, seizures, and convulsions), and so on.
Clinical combinations of this point include: with Gongsun point, Zhigou point and Zhangmen point for treating pain in the ribs and coarseness; with Taichong point, Gallbladder point, Jianli point and Guiyang point for treating jaundice.
It is also used with Fengchi point, Shoulder Point, Quchi point and Zhigou point to treat stroke and hemiplegia (inability to move one side of the limb at will); and with Yinlingquan point, Liangqiu point, Calvary point, Zhizhong point, Ququan point, and Shusanli point to treat knee joint pain.
