What’s wrong with swollen eyes when you’re pregnant?

Swollen and painful eyes in pregnancy are usually caused by physiological factors and conjunctivitis.
1. Physiological factors: the hormones in a woman’s body change after pregnancy, which in turn leads to water and sodium retention in the tissue cells. This usually manifests as edema of the eyelids and feet. If you don’t get enough rest or use your eyes excessively, it can also be accompanied by eye pain.
2. Conjunctivitis: Conjunctivitis also occurs during pregnancy when the eyes are swollen and painful. Mostly due to bacterial, viral and fungal infections of the eye, it is generally contagious and can directly or indirectly infect people around you, and is usually accompanied by redness, swelling and congestion of the eye.
Swollen and painful eyes in pregnancy need to go to the hospital for examination and cooperate with the doctor for treatment to prevent complications.
