For routine stool testing, a stool sample is taken, either directly from a clean container or from a diaper, and then a sample is taken in a special container at the hospital testing window. When your baby has diarrhea or other stool problems, it is usually necessary to have a stool test, and it is not recommended that you take a sample of your baby’s stool directly from home in a container that you have at home. It is not recommended to dip the baby’s stool directly into a container at home, because containers at home are usually not sterilized and contain bacteria, which may lead to contamination of the stool sample, thus causing the test results to be skewed. Moms and dads can directly take the stool in a clean container or on the diaper to the hospital, and at the hospital’s testing window, use the hospital’s disposable swabs and disposable stool receivers to complete the stool sampling, and just dip a small amount of stool into a cup to be sent for testing. It should be noted that the stool sample needs to be freshly collected at the time of the test, and stool samples that have been stored for a longer period of time should not be selected to ensure the reference value of the test results.
