Lung Mulled Glass Nodule 5*4mm is mostly benign such as pneumonia and is mostly not serious; it has only a low risk of malignancy, and is more serious if it is considered to be lung cancer.
Milled glass nodules can be categorized into pure milled glass nodules and mixed milled glass nodules. The malignant risk of pure milled glass nodules is about 18%, while the malignant rate of mixed milled glass nodules is higher, up to 63%. The malignant risk of general 4~7mm lung nodules is very low, only about 1%.
Therefore, a 5*4mm ground glass nodule has a low risk of malignancy and is more likely to be a benign condition such as pneumonia.
Pneumonia caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections in the lungs is not serious and can be treated with antibiotics such as ceftriaxone, but only a small number of severe infections are serious. If it is caused by focal charcoal deposition and fibrosis, no special treatment is needed.
If it is carcinoma in situ or atypical neoplastic hyperplasia, it has the possibility of cancerous transformation and needs close follow-up observation. If it is caused by bronchopulmonary cancer, it is more serious and may be life-threatening if not treated in time. However, lung cancer of 4~5mm is mostly in early stage and the prognosis is better after active treatment.
It is recommended that patients consult a specialist to determine the cause of the disease based on the morphology of the nodule and the results of other tests, such as tumor markers, and follow the doctor’s instructions for examination and treatment.
