Analysis of the causes of leg pain after open surgery for lumbar disc herniation

Talking about open surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation, everyone is scared and discouraged, the reason is mainly because in the past treatment process, many patients are left with intolerable postoperative back and leg pain. The reason for all this is mainly due to the following factors: i. Incomplete decompression of the lateral saphenous fossa during the operation, and the nerve root compression has not been lifted. ii. Luo Min, Department of Pain, China-Japan Friendship Hospital of Jilin University. 2. Maybe only lumbar spine ct was checked before surgery, and no lumbar spine magnetic resonance examination was done, and the nucleus pulposus tissue that had prolapsed into the spinal canal or dura mater was not detected before surgery, and it was missed during surgery. Third, intraoperative hemostasis is not complete, postoperative drainage is not adequate, residual sludge is mechanized and adheres to the nerve root. Fourth, the operator is inexperienced, the lumbar vertebral plate is clipped too large, and the lumbar spine is unstable. Fifth, postoperative lumbar spine localized scar formation, causing compression on the nerve. In view of the above reasons, leg pain after surgery can be completely eliminated if there is strict preoperative examination, adequate assessment of the condition, careful operation during the operation, and careful postoperative care. At present, due to the emergence of various minimally invasive lumbar spine treatments, the above postoperative complications can be completely solved by minimally invasive surgery. Patients no longer have to endure postoperative back and leg pain.
