Foot fracture cast immobilization generally 4~6 weeks review X-ray shows that the fracture is well healed, the cast can be removed for functional exercise.
If the displacement of the foot fracture is not big, joint swelling, pain is not obvious, you can take the cast immobilization, fast recovery generally fixed for about 4 weeks, if the review X-ray shows that the fracture line is fuzzy, then you can remove the cast to perform functional exercises, but the full recovery needs about 3 months.
If the fracture of the foot is comminuted, or the physical condition is poor, the recovery is slower, the cast fixation time should be longer, usually about 6 weeks, X-ray shows that the fracture is healing well, the cast can be removed for functional exercise.
After the foot fracture is immobilized with cast, you should go to the hospital regularly for review and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment and functional exercise, and should not blindly remove the cast and exercise on your own, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
