Efficacy and effects of atorvastatin

The efficacy of atorvastatin reduces hypercholesterolemia and has a therapeutic effect on hyperlipidemia.
Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that inhibits cholesterol biosynthesis and lowers blood cholesterol and serum lipoprotein concentrations. It can be used to treat hyperlipidemia such as mixed hyperlipidemia and familial hereditary hypercholesterolemia. It is also used as a secondary preventive agent for coronary heart disease.
Atorvastatin is associated with adverse reactions such as abnormal liver function, renal insufficiency, and muscle pain, rhabdomyolysis, and causing elevated blood sugar. The drug is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, allergy, pregnancy and lactation.
When using atorvastatin, patients must be under the guidance of a doctor to avoid unauthorized use of the drug causing serious harm to the body.
