Mugwort leaves are pungent, bitter and warm in nature; they are slightly poisonous. It belongs to the liver, spleen and kidney meridians. It can warm the menstruation, stop bleeding, disperse cold and relieve pain (relieving pain by dispelling cold in the body); externally, it can dispel dampness and relieve itching. It is used in treating hematemesis, epistaxis, metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or more than a few drops), excessive menstrual flow, fetal leakage (small amount of vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy), hyperemia, cold pain in the lower abdomen, irregular menstrual cycle, infertility due to cold in the uterus; and for treating itching of the skin externally.
Because of the warm nature of moxa leaves, it is easy to hurt the fluid, so people with Yin deficiency and blood heat should be cautious. If you need to use moxa leaves, it is recommended to use it under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners to standardize the use of the medicine, do not self-medication.
