Tetanus immune globulin is a sterile solution of globulin prepared from the plasma of adults immunized with tetanus toxoid for passive immunization against tetanus. Specific treatment is by intramuscular injection of 250-500 units of human tetanus immunoglobulin. The immunoglobulin is purified from human plasma immunoglobulin or prepared by genetic recombination technology, and after a single injection, it can be retained in the body for 4-5 weeks, with an immune efficacy 10 times higher than that of tetanus antitoxin. It is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of tetanus, especially for those who have allergic reaction to refined tetanus antitoxin (TAT).
