What are the symptoms of protein toxicity?

Protein poisoning can be followed by symptoms of the digestive tract such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Sometimes, dizziness, headache, fever, shortness of breath, chest tightness, palpitations, weakness, loss of appetite and general itching may also occur. Patients with severe poisoning may also experience impaired consciousness and even anaphylactic shock. Therefore, once the symptoms of protein poisoning appear, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital promptly, and rehydration and enema can be given to promote toxin excretion. If the general itching is obvious, anti-allergic treatment can be given, such as oral loratadine or paracetamol, etc. In severe cases, glucocorticoid therapy can be given. At the same time, symptomatic support treatment should be strengthened to correct electrolyte disorders. If there is anaphylaxis, epinephrine needs to be given for active resuscitation treatment.
