Location of Taichong Point

The location of Taichong point is on the dorsum of the foot between the 1st and 2nd metatarsals where the arterial pulsation can be touched. Taichong point is the original point and acupoint of the foot syncopal liver meridian. It is located on the dorsum of the foot, in the anterior depression of the union of the bases of the 1st and 2nd metatarsal bones. It can be used to treat stroke, epilepsy, etc. Together with the Hegu point, Taichong can open the orifices and awaken the mind (opening the orifices of the brain and clearing the mind), analgesic and antispasmodic. If there is a deficiency of liver yin, manifesting as pain in the ribs and wounds, dry mouth and thirst, and a thin stringy pulse, it can be combined with points such as Sanyinjiao and Taixi. It can also be used to treat jaundice, bitter taste in the mouth, coercive pain (pain in the area of the coats of arms and ribs), abdominal distension, and other disorders of Liver-Stomach disharmony (disharmony between the ascending Liver and descending Stomach), and can be used in conjunction with acupoints such as Xingmai and Ximen. This point can also be used to treat pain in the foot and shin, and can be combined with the localized Ah Yes point (the point where the sensation of soreness, numbness, distension and pain is pronounced).
