Infection with rabies and the onset of rabies can have a 100% mortality rate, but it can be prevented by rabies vaccination. Rabies is a contagious disease caused by the rabies virus, which is usually transmitted from animals to humans through scratches or bites. The incubation period of rabies virus infection is usually around 1 to 3 months. After the onset of rabies, the virus attacks the body’s nervous system and eventually leads to organ failure and death. There is currently no effective anti-viral drug against rabies virus, therefore, once rabies attacks, the mortality rate is 100%. However, rabies can be prevented by vaccination. After being scratched or bitten by an animal, timely treatment of wounds and inoculation with rabies vaccine and rabies passive immunization preparations as needed can prevent its infection very well.
