The difference between cefixime and cefdinir is minor, with the main difference being greater resistance against different pathogens. Cefixime and cefdinir are both anti-inflammatory drugs, third-generation cephalosporins, and are mainly used for more serious infections such as sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, osteomyelitis and severe urinary tract infections. The main difference between the two is that cefdinir has more antibacterial activity against staphylococci, and cefdinir is more effective against positive bacteria. There is little difference between the two drugs, and their efficacy and action are basically the same, but in the event of resistance to one of them, the patient can choose to use the other drug for treatment, to circumvent the pathogen’s resistance to a specific drug. It is important to note that alcohol consumption is prohibited while taking cephalosporins.
