Shenmen, belongs to the heart meridian of the lesser yin of the hand. It is located in the anterior region of the wrist, at the ulnar end of the transverse stripe on the distal side of the palmar side of the wrist, and at the radial edge of the ulnar flexor carpi radialis tendon. It is used for treating heart pain, heartburn, palpitations, forgetfulness, insomnia, dementia, hypertension, and pain in the chest and ribs (a collective term for the chest and ribcage area).
In modern times, it is often used in the treatment of cardiac hypertrophy, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, rheumatic heart disease, psychasthenia, hysteria, dementia, aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, post-partum hemorrhage, and tonsillitis.
