People who are prone to dementia, i.e. those at high risk of dementia, mainly include people with bad habits, people with a history of intracranial diseases, epileptic patients, people with a family history of dementia, and people of advanced age. 1. People with bad hobbies: if they have a history of heavy drinking or smoking, they are likely to suffer from dementia. 2. History of intracranial diseases: People with a history of intracranial diseases are also susceptible to dementia due to damage to brain cells. Intracranial diseases include cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, traumatic brain injury, intracranial infections, and tumors. 3. People with epilepsy: Epilepsy is caused by highly synchronized abnormal discharges of neurons in the brain. Repeated epileptic seizures can lead to neuronal damage in the brain and result in dementia. 4. Family history of dementia: If the patient’s close relatives have dementia, the patient’s probability of developing dementia is higher than normal. 5. Elderly people: The incidence of dementia increases with age. People at higher risk for dementia also have a history of long-term exposure to toxic substances and chronic malnutrition. People at risk for dementia are advised to monitor their own situation closely and seek early medical attention and intervention when abnormalities occur.
