How to take care of otitis media after surgery?

  1. For the first two days after surgery, you may feel pain in the wound or a brief throbbing pain, a pulsating sensation in the ear, a sound of water flow or increased tinnitus, and slight dizziness and nausea, which is normal. 2.After surgery, the head and the open ear should be wrapped with an elastic bandage temporarily and removed by the physician after two days, so that the wound will not bleed or the ear will swell. 3.After surgery, you should lie flat with your head slightly elevated and keep the unopened ear facing downward to avoid pain from pressure on the wound. 4. Please eat light or soft food after the surgery. For example, milk and rice. 5. The stitches will be removed about six days after the surgery. The ear canal will be filled with plugs after surgery, so hearing will be temporarily deteriorated. 1-2 weeks will pass before the doctor removes the plugs. 7. Please do not cough or blow your nose hard. Do not touch the ear and dressing with water when taking a shower or washing your face. Keep the wound dry and clean. 8. After the ear canal plug is removed, the newly repaired eardrum is still moist, so you still need to come to the clinic several times for treatment. During this time, you should not dig your ear with a cotton swab or let a physician who does not know the details handle your ear to avoid damaging the newly repaired eardrum and ruining your work. 9. Avoid sunlight and hot environments as much as possible after the surgery, and you can swim in the water after three months with your doctor’s permission.
