Bathing in the sea do not forget the ear health

When the summer heat arrives, people like to go to the beach to take a dip, avoid the heat, eat seafood and drink some wine. Unbeknownst to us, summer is also the time of the year when ear diseases are at their peak. Experts remind us that we should take good care of our ears in summer. 1. Avoid diving and swimming when you have a cold. Once the middle ear cavity and the back of the nasal cavity are connected by a thin tube, which is medically called the eustachian tube, it plays a very important role in balancing the air pressure in the middle ear cavity and preventing germs from invading the barrier. In addition, when you have a cold, the nasal mucosa becomes congested, nasal and nasopharyngeal secretions increase, and nasal congestion is heavy. At this time, if you dive, it is easy to infect the middle ear cavity with nasal inflammation and bacteria through the eustachian tube, causing acute congestion of the tympanic membrane, pain, tinnitus, hearing loss and other symptoms. 2, ear blockage in time to seek medical attention. Most people have a small amount of earwax in the external ear canal, commonly known as “earwax”, which generally does not affect hearing. The earwax secretion in the ear canal of a few people is strong, ear canal dander plus external dust and other slowly accumulate, their own perception may not be obvious, once the ear into the water, these cerumen is like water rising beans, aggravate the external ear canal occlusion and cause ear stuffiness, ear swelling pain discomfort. 3, ear itching, ear “water” in time to find the cause. Because of the hidden nature of the external ear canal, people usually pay little attention to it, but the skin inside the external ear canal is covered with cartilage and bone outside, which is very delicate and has very sensitive nerves. Some people feel uncomfortable with itchy ears, so they find toothpicks and ear-digging spoons to dig around in the ear canal, resulting in inflammation of the external ear canal and unbearable pain, old hatred and new hatred, and unbearable suffering. In fact, the skin of the external ear canal can also suffer from “eczema”, which is a skin allergy, manifesting as itchy ear canal, running water in the ear canal and changes in the color or appearance of the local skin. It is possible that seafood is a favorite of many people, but because seafood is rich in protein, it can cause skin “allergies” in some people, so that recurring ear itching and ear “water” should be avoided. 4, the water temperature difference is large when do not tie the “fierce”. When summer starts, the surface water temperature of lakes and oceans is high and the deep water temperature is low. This temperature difference can cause dizziness, nausea and other reflexes in contact with the external ear canal and eardrum area underwater, resulting in a dysfunctional body balance. In this temperature difference environment, zha “fierce” may appear leg cramps, ear balance disorders, mis-absorption and mis-choking, causing life-threatening situations. 5, the water’s edge should be measured. Do not splash in the direction of your ears when splashing around, as the splash may cause damage and perforation to the eardrum with certain shock waves. 6. Patients with otitis media should protect their ears well. The onset of otitis media is closely related to water in the ear, and since seawater and lake water are unclean, it is best for people with such disorders to wear suitable silicone ear plugs for protection. Patients with chronic otitis media have been suffering from the disease for a long time and it is easy to be ignored, but the disease is still active and developing, and it is harmful to the body’s sense of hearing, balance and taste, etc. You should go to the hospital regularly for review and treatment, and it is especially important to keep the ear canal dry in general.
