Cruciate ligament injuries include anterior and posterior cruciate ligament injuries, which are categorized into fresh and old injuries. Self-measurement of injuries mainly includes symptoms, history of trauma, and activity level.
1. Symptoms: cruciate ligament injuries have specific symptoms, and patients can conduct preliminary self-assessment through symptoms.
(1) Fresh cruciate ligament injury: anterior cruciate ligament injury patients often have severe pain, local hematoma caused by the patient also feel swelling and pain; posterior cruciate ligament injury patients generally have less serious symptoms, mostly only joint pain, swelling and pain is mild.
(2) Old cruciate ligament injury: anterior cruciate ligament injury can show joint instability and joint interlocking symptoms, such as walking suddenly stop; posterior cruciate ligament injury has mild joint pain, and the knee joint lacks ligament support when lying down and bending the knee, which leads to tibial subsidence.
2. History of trauma: After the patient presents with symptoms of suspected cruciate ligament injury, he/she can further self-test according to the history of trauma.
(1) Fresh cruciate ligament injury: Excessive internal or external rotation of the knee can lead to anterior cruciate ligament injury, such as a skiing injury; excessive anterior and posterior force on the knee can lead to posterior cruciate ligament injury, such as a head-on collision with the knee.
(2) Obsolete cruciate ligament injuries: patients with reoccurring pain and other symptoms, but no recent history of trauma, the patient can be judged based on past history, if there has been internal or external rotation of the knee or direct impact, consider anterior and posterior cruciate ligament injuries.
3. Mobility: the knee is flexed at a right angle, if the calf movement exceeds the normal range, it can be further confirmed.
If cruciate ligament injury is suspected, it is recommended that the patient seeks medical attention in a timely manner for careful examination and treatment as prescribed by the doctor.
