There are more medications that Rosuvastatin should not be taken at the same time, mainly through the same metabolic mechanism of action, that have a competitive effect, that can raise each other’s blood levels or lower each other’s blood levels, and that result in a decrease in efficacy are not recommended to be taken together, such as Gemfibrozil, Vitamin K antagonists, and oral contraceptives. Pharmacodynamic interactions may occur when Rosuvastatin is combined with gemfibrozil or other lipid-lowering medications, which can increase the risk of disease. Combination of Rosuvastatin with vitamin K antagonists may result in increased or decreased coagulation. Combination of Rosuvastatin with oral contraceptives (e.g., ethinyl estradiol, norethindrone) may interact to increase the blood concentration of the drug and produce adverse effects. Re-administration of Rosuvastatin is contraindicated in HIV patients on protein inhibitor therapy, which can elevate the homeostasis of Rosuvastatin and cause more toxic side effects. If you are taking Rosuvastatin with other medications, be sure to take them under your doctor’s supervision to avoid adverse effects from interactions.
