What does low EGFR mean?

Low EGFR, which refers to a low mutation rate of the EGFR gene, often suggests that the tumor is poorly invasive and also suggests that the patient may have a poor response to EGFR inhibitors.
EGFR refers to epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase, which is a transmembrane protein composed of intracellular and extracellular components. High expression of EGFR indicates that tumor cells are highly invasive, easily metastasized, with poor efficacy and poor prognosis. Low EGFR is associated with relatively poor tumor aggressiveness and metastasis.
Inhibitors of EGFR, such as gefitinib, can inhibit the growth of tumor cells, induce cell cycle arrest, promote apoptosis and inhibit angiogenesis. If the EGFR mutation rate is low, it suggests that the patient’s response to this type of drug may be poor and it is not appropriate to use this type of drug.
Low EGFR, it is recommended to go to the hospital, clear diagnosis, active treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
