How babies enter deep sleep

Mom’s question: My baby is five months old and doesn’t seem to be sleeping soundly. He needs to move around for an hour or two and must be patted and coaxed to go back to sleep. How can I make my baby fall into a deep sleep? Babies can sleep in a variety of positions. Generally, it is up to them to choose the position they feel most comfortable in, so there is no need to change it deliberately. If your baby’s weight and length increase faster than the average girl of the same age this month, it indicates that the amount of breast milk is sufficient and well absorbed. However, if the baby does not sleep well, the mother’s daily intake of calcium-containing foods or vitamin D supplementation should be taken into consideration; whether the baby has at least 400 units of additional vitamin D supplementation daily, or 600~800 units daily if it is insufficient; calcium powder supplementation arranged more than one hour before and after meals or before bedtime may be more conducive to absorption. May-aged babies sleep about 15~16 hours a day, you should cultivate the good sleep habit of going to sleep and getting up on time. When your baby does not develop automatic sleep, you can put her to sleep in her crib when she seems to be sleeping, reduce the frequency of coaxing and patting, and gradually lift the midnight feeding. You don’t have to pay special attention to the unrealistic situation in your baby’s sleep.
