Can babies get colds from teething?

Under normal circumstances, babies will not catch a cold when teething. Teething is a physiological process and catching a cold is a pathological process. During the process of teething, babies will have clinical manifestations, such as drooling, itchy teeth, often biting teething sticks, biting their own hands, biting adults’ hands, biting things, mainly because of itchy gums during the process of teething. In addition to drooling, itchy gums and biting, there is also a decrease in appetite, crying and irritability. As the gums become red, swollen and even itchy during the process of growing and erupting teeth, babies become quieter than usual during the process of teething and show symptoms of irritability. The symptoms of a cold are fever, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, sore throat, dry stool and yellow urine, which usually do not occur during teething. If your baby has a runny nose, sneezing and coughing in addition to drooling, irritability, crying and chewing, it is recommended that you bring your child to the hospital in time to avoid delays.
