What’s a double orchiectomy?

A double orchiectomy is a surgical procedure that removes both sides of the patient’s testicles. Bi-orchiectomy is mainly indicated for testicular tumors, where the spermatic cord is first ligated high near the inner ring and then the tumor testicle is removed. When an orchiectomy is performed for a lesion or injury, the spermatic cord may be cut low to remove the testicle. After a man has his testicles removed is a decline in androgens, which can lead to manifestations associated with decreased sex hormones, such as beard reduction, personality and mood changes, decreased stamina, and erectile difficulties. After bilateral orchiectomy, men should pay attention to whether there is redness and swelling in the wound and whether there is fluid oozing. Clinically, if orchiectomy is needed, patients are advised to combine their own conditions, consult a professional urologist and seek treatment in a regular hospital.
