How long does it take to recover from open brain surgery?

After having surgery on the brain, you can be discharged from the hospital in about 10-14 days. However, if there are neurological sequelae, active rehabilitation is required, which may take up to three months, or about a year for some patients. Surgery on the brain is a rather vague concept. The surgeries often performed in neurosurgery include cranial hematoma removal, cranial debridement and decompression surgery, and cranial tumor resection. If a patient has undergone cranial hematoma removal and cranial debridement decompression surgery due to severe cranial injury and brain hemorrhage, the stitches can be removed in about two weeks, but further rehabilitation is needed later, and the recovery time may take about three months. If the patient has undergone craniotomy and has no obvious neurological sequelae after the surgery, he will be discharged in two weeks and will not need any further rehabilitation treatment at a later stage.
