A boy with infantile spasms and cerebral palsy on the road to recovery

This is the older brother of a twin brother. Rather unfortunately, there was oxygen deprivation and asphyxia at birth, so neither lifting his head nor turning over to sit alone could be accomplished by the 7-month-old, while his brother is very smart and healthy. The child’s mother traveled all the way from the ancient capital of Xi’an to Beijing. The 100-meter long queue at the Children’s Hospital left her helpless and the less than 3-minute process after the consultation left her frustrated. The consultation at Sanbo gave her a little peace of mind that there were no long lines, but patience and enthusiasm. Infantile spasms, although diagnosed at Children’s Hospital, but how to treat it? The child’s MRI showed severe bilateral parietal-occipital ischemic-hypoxic lesions, and he woke up every morning with frequent head nodding that left him powerless. The course of treatment that followed was standardized and nothing new, nothing more than hormone shocks, administration of oral Depakene and Clonazepam. The mother’s anticipation was rewarded and the child’s seizures disappeared. For six months after returning home, the brother had no more seizures. The child’s mother was relieved. However, he was still unable to stand at over a year old and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the local hospital. The local hospital diagnosed him with cerebral palsy. He had thought about hyperbaric oxygen, nerve growth factor, and many other methods, but they were not effective. The child’s mother thought of Sanbo again. When she came to me, she didn’t have many expectations, she just wanted to try transcranial magnetic stimulation. Because I had recommended it to her. After several parameter trials, the child went home after 10 sessions of one treatment. I didn’t expect that today, one month later, she came back. Did the epilepsy come back. I was very confused. But she said with a bright face, “Director Wang, the child is standing up, and her hands are more flexible than before. I want to do 20 more sessions.” It was indeed a miracle. Transcranial magnetic stimulation is indeed miraculous!
