The liver can regenerate.
The liver has a strong regenerative capacity. When the liver is attacked, the liver parenchymal cells can divide and proliferate to produce new liver parenchymal cells, which promotes liver regeneration. Some experimental animal studies have shown that three-quarters of a surgically removed liver can proliferate to its original size within a few weeks.
The regenerative capacity of the liver varies from person to person, and hepatitis and alcohol can inhibit liver regeneration. When the hepatitis virus infects the liver, it gradually leads to fibrosis of the liver tissue and development of cirrhosis, which directly diminishes the regenerative capacity of the liver. Alcohol damages the liver and at the same time inhibits the proliferation of liver cells, weakening the regenerative capacity of the liver.
In daily life, we should pay attention to protect the liver, avoid staying up late, eat a light diet, do not drink alcohol, and keep a good mood. Regular medical checkups are recommended, and if there is any discomfort, you should go to the hospital in time.
